Casinos that may go live soon

This year, there are a number of casinos that will soon go live. For example, TonyBet and Flash Casino Online have already received the green light from the Gaming Authority to offer their games of chance. We are waiting for the new online casinos to launch their websites. The expectation is that this will happen later this year.

TonyBet

TonyBet is one of the new casinos that is expected to open its digital doors this year. The company received a license from the Gaming Authority at the end of 2022. The company is officially based in Latvia and has been taking a long time to finally launch the website. At the end of November 2022, the company stated that it wanted to open the website in 2023. When this will happen is still unclear. The gambling company primarily focuses on sports betting. It is also possible internationally to bet on, for example, basketball competitions. Whether this will be the case in the Netherlands is still uncertain.

Flash Casino Online

One of the casinos that also already has a license but is not yet live is Flash Casino. This casino comes from the parent company of Jack's Casino. That license is already in place, but the online casino has not yet officially opened.

Casinos that may still receive a license

There are also a number of casinos for which we know that a license application is pending with the Gaming Authority. We expect that companies such as LeoVegas, the Oranje/Kroon Casino, and PokerStars will receive an approved license this year and will then go live.

LeoVegas

LeoVegas was one of the most popular casinos before the legalization of the gambling market in the Netherlands. The casino was established by two Swedish entrepreneurs. The company currently does not have a Dutch license. The gambling provider had to wait longer for a license because it approached Dutch players despite the rules. For this reason, LeoVegas was in a cooling-off period. We now know that the license application is pending and we expect that this company will be added to the offering later this year.

"Getting approval from the KSA is not only important for LeoVegas, but also for players. For them, the casino can offer an enormous and unique collection of games, including both slot machines and live games." - casino expert Marlen Sneijder.

Oranje/Kroon Casino

The Oranje Casino and Kroon Casino are part of Betsson. Because the company accepted Dutch customers too early, both casinos were imposed hefty fines by the Gaming Authority. The company renamed Kroon Casino to Casino Winner at the end of 2019. Oranje Casino became Loyal Casino. The parent company announced at the end of 2021 that it still wanted to enter the Dutch market and apply for a license. In the quarterly figures of 2021, it was stated that the company wanted to apply for a license in February 2022. However, that application has still not been approved as of early 2023.

PokerStars

Like the other companies waiting for a license, PokerStars is in a difficult position. The company targeted Dutch players of poker without having a license. As a result, the provider received a fine of 400,000 euros. Only on October 16, 2021, was the provider allowed to apply for a license. Parent company Flutter indicates that it still has an interest in applying for a license in the Netherlands. Only in the second or third quarter of this year will PokerStars possibly receive a license and thus be able to launch the website.
