When we evaluate a modern laptop, expectations are high. We seek mobility without compromising on capacity. In that respect, the ASUS ExpertBook B9 (B9400) makes no concessions.

The weight of 880 grams was not achieved by cutting back on power, but by making the right material choices.

ASUS innovates with magnesium lithium alloy. This material is lighter than the magnesium alloy of previous models. Power remains intact. If we state that the casing can withstand a bump, we are putting it mildly. The model meets STD-810G, a durability standard used for military equipment among others.

The inside

The ASUS ExpertBook B9 (B9400) is available in four configurations. Each version delivers market-conforming power. An 11th Gen i5 or i7 processor, up to 32GB of RAM, and up to 4TB of SSD capacity meet almost all the needs a modern professional faces.

Versions weighing 880 grams contain a 33W battery, which lasts up to 9.5 hours. In 55 minutes, you can charge the battery to 80 percent.

Ports provide exceptional connectivity. One USB-A and two Thunderbolt 4 USB-C ports eliminate the need for a dongle or USB dock. A tidy home or office workspace is the logical result.

Hybrid working method

The combination of weight, power, and connectivity makes the ASUS ExpertBook B9 (B9400) particularly suitable for the hybrid working method brought about by COVID-19. The division between home and office continues, making a lightweight workhorse even more attractive.

Interesting networking and communication features further facilitate hybrid use. Communication is improved thanks to the AI NoiseCanceling Mic, a feature that filters background noise and prioritizes voice sound. Wi-Fi 6 connectivity is present, and ASUS' own WiFi Master Premium technology enhances and optimizes connections.

Diverse ergonomic design choices contribute to pleasant use. The display can be opened up to 180 degrees. Security is integrated with a distance sensor that automatically locks the laptop when you leave the workspace.

The verdict

The laptop market is competitive. We do not take a term like 'distinctive' lightly, but the ASUS ExpertBook B9 (B9400) is certainly distinctive. A strong foundation is complemented by details that are as numerous as they are functional. The result is a beautiful, powerful, and lightweight device.
