Few racing games have achieved such a balance between accessibility and depth. Beginners can jump in without too much knowledge, while passionate enthusiasts can lose themselves in tuning cars, creating their own events, or perfecting drifts over mountain passes. The open worlds feel alive and invite exploration — outside the beaten racing paths. And with each edition, not only did the number of cars grow, but also the sense of freedom.
Iconic cover cars
The car on the cover is often a statement of the atmosphere and style of the game. Think of the SRT Viper in part 1, the Lamborghini Huracán in Horizon 2, or the Mercedes-AMG One in Horizon 5. Each choice emphasized the character of the game: fast, stylish, striking.
In Forza Horizon 6, developer Playground Games opts for a double Japanese lead role: the brand new Toyota GR GT in a striking red paint, accompanied by a blue Land Cruiser 250.
The Toyota GR GT and Forza Horizon 6
That the Toyota GR GT is on the cover of Forza Horizon 6 is no random choice. This brand new flagship from Toyota GAZOO Racing has been developed as a race car for the public road. It embodies the philosophy of "building through motorsport" and makes its digital debut with Forza Horizon 6. This not only underscores the game's focus on performance but also its connection to real-life automotive technology and innovation.
Then there is another reason this car is on the cover. The Toyota comes from the far east for us, and thus the game celebrates its new setting: Japan.
Japan as a new playground
Forza Horizon 6 takes place entirely in a fictional but recognizable version of Japan. Think of cherry blossom trees, neon skyline, narrow mountain roads, and a view of the iconic Mount Fuji. It is a setting that fans have been asking for years, and it seems that this wish is now being fulfilled in detail.
What can we expect? More than 550 vehicles at launch, dynamic weather, day and night cycles, and an extra focus on Japanese car and street culture. Think of touge races (mountain passes), car meets, and even references to drift culture. New is also The Estate, a customizable home base where players can showcase their own car collection.
Forza Horizon is a series that repeatedly manages to innovate without losing its identity. With the sixth installment, it opts for a dream location, innovative gameplay elements, and an iconic Japanese cover car. Everything points to Forza Horizon 6 raising the bar once again. That will not be the first time in the series.
