The six new startups were selected based on team, business model, and product and will focus in the coming four months on eliminating market, legal, financial, and operational risks and realizing their business. Roel Raatgever, director of UtrechtInc is excited about the new batch of startups: 'It's a diverse group that is really willing to learn in this rollercoaster.' The teams will have plenty of learning to do. In the coming months, they will work on developing a prototype and having initial customer conversations. Last week, the teams already had a meeting with Eric Ries, the entrepreneur who launched the 'lean startup' concept. UtrechtInc is based on this and other methodological approaches to entrepreneurship.

The new batch

These are the new startups that will try to realize their dream in the coming four months:

  • Boldmindz, Rowan van 't Hoogt and Severin Ince are developing a tool for patients, caregivers, and employers that contributes to faster and lasting recovery from burnout.
  • Pick This Up, Steven Reiz, Arjen Jan van der Zee, and Jelmer van der Zee are working on a logistics platform that combines fixed routes of drivers with the delivery of large or heavy packages over medium to long distances.
  • Test Tool Factory, Marielle Winarto and Jori Ramakers help software development teams with an accessible tool to automate testing, making it more efficient and effective.
  • SpeakUp-VR, Peter Blomsma wants to make everyone a top speaker with the latest digital techniques.
  • Stoov, Teun van Leijsen is working on a sustainable solution that warms people through seat heating, without heating the air.
  • MRIguidance, Peter Seevinck is developing an MRI method that makes CT scans unnecessary. This allows for radiation-free, efficient, and accurate diagnostics, and treatment and evaluation are image-guided.
  • Senfal, Sander ten Kate and Hubert Spruijt are developing algorithms to make electricity storage profitable.

UtrechtInc is located at the Utrecht Science Park and has been responsible for the guidance and support of 124 startups since its inception. In addition to the substantive programs, the business incubator also offers funding, office space, coaching, and a startup community.
